Health benefits of wheatgrass juice… is it for you?

There are numerous benefits to drinking wheatgrass juice but that doesn’t mean that you should run right out to the store and buy it.  You’d be running out to the store every time either a new claim or a new product came into the limelight.  So, what is it about wheatgrass?wheatgrass

Nature’s finest medicine

According to the Hippocrates Health Institute, wheatgrass juice is nature’s finest medicine.  It is a powerful concentrated liquid nutrient. Two ounces of wheatgrass juice has the nutritional equivalent of five pounds of the best raw organic vegetables.  Wow!  It would take a lot to eat 5 pounds of vegetables a day.

Among other things wheatgrass juice is particularly high in chlorophyll. Wheatgrass cleanses and builds the blood due to its high content of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is the first product of light and therefore contains more healing properties than any other element. All life on this planet comes from the sun. Only green plants can transform the sun’s energy into chlorophyll through the process of photosynthesis. . Chlorophyll is known as the ‘life-blood’ of the plants.   • Its high chlorophyll content may help oxygenate your blood. Keeping a tray of live wheatgrass near your bed may also enhance the oxygen in the air and generate healthful negative ions to help improve your sleep
  • May help reduce damaging effects of radiation, courtesy of the enzyme SOD—an anti-inflammatory compound

One thing that’s important to know is that wheatgrass is a powerful detoxifying agent, but is not recommended to be used long term.  The amount of time that it is used should be determined by a health practitioner who knows your medical history and the needs of your body.

Example protocol

To give you an example of a wheatgrass protocol, wheatgrass2my health care practitioner just recommended that I do a 3 week detox, taking wheatgrass juice twice a day for 3 weeks along with Vitamin C.  She recommended that I do this detox twice a year.  You can see that it doesn’t need to be taken long term, but can be used on a periodic basis.

As you can see, there are many health benefits of wheatgrass juice.  If you’re ambitious, you can grow your own and juice it yourself.  I prefer to buy it ready to drink.  If you live in Texas or Louisiana, you can buy wheatgrass juice from Grass On The Go.  They’ve created wheatgrass in an easy to take portable form.
